Today life for adults, children, adolescents and parents is complex and stressful. The APA reports that 72% of adults are being treated for stress related disorders. The CDC and APA report large numbers of children and adolescents having emotional and behavioral problems. Stress maybe seen as an invisible disorder, but we experience it in our body which often results in headaches, obesity with emotional eating and chronic pain. The link betwen our mind and body is powerful and behavioral health counseling is important.
Primary care providers are seeing increasing numbers of adults, cihldren and adolescents with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, exhausation, headaches amd chronic pain.
If you or your child is experiencing anxiety, obsessive compulsive thoughts and behaviors, insomnia, depression, mood swings, frustration, and irritability, you are may have a stress related disorder. We often become so comfortable with stress that we don't realize how it is affecting our health both emotional and medical.
More adult, adolescents and children are being diagnosed and treated for ADD and ADHD disorders. Is this your diagnosis or are the symptoms stress related? You will find the answer to this question and others with my clinical assessment. If you do have ADD as an adult of child, I work collaboratively with your primary care provider, psychiatrist or peditrician to develop the most effective plan which may include medication, but also includes developing skills and strategies to minimize symptoms.
Behavioral Health counseling is important to reduce our need for medication and to lead to happier, healthier and, more fulfilled lives for adults, children and adolescents. Treatment includes an assessment of symptoms; consultation with primary care or medical provider and a treatment plan developed in collaboration with you. My work is to assist you in developing skills to manage stress, reduce medical problems and increase your happiness.
My treatment integrates motivational interviewing, cognitive behavior therapy and is strength based, mindulf and compassionate focused.
While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life.
